On Tuesday 10 March 2020, the Court will hear the appeal of Dill v Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government & Anor. This appeal will consider, on an application for listed building consent, whether the Planning Inspector should consider whether the items listed were ‘buildings’; and the correct approach to determining whether the items are ‘buildings’.

On Wednesday 11 March 2020, the Court will hand-down judgment in R v Copeland. This appeal will consider whether personal experimentation or own private education, absent some ulterior lawful purpose can be regarded as ‘lawful object’ for the purposes of the Explosive Substances Act 1883, section 4 (1).

On Wednesday 11 and Thursday 12 March 2020, the Court will also hear the appeal of Cardtronics UK Ltd & Ors v Sykes & Ors. This appeal will consider who is the rateable occupier of the site of a cash machine whose operator is a different company from the occupier of the premises in which it is located.

On Thursday 27 February 2020, the Court will have an assessment of costs hearing in the case of Kilraine v London Borough of Wandsworth.

On Monday 9 March 2020, the Privy Council will hear the appeal of Forbes & Ors v Scotiabank (Bahamas) Ltd. This appeal will consider whether the amount of damages awarded to the Appellants was correct.

On Thursday 12 March 2020, the Privy Council will hear the appeal of Attorney General of the Virgin Islands v Global Water Associates Ltd (British Virgin Islands). This appeal will consider inter alia whether the profits which the Appellant would have made under a Management, Operation and Maintenance Agreement with the Respondent are too remote in law to be claimed as damages for the Respondent’s breach of a Design Build Agreement entered into at the same time.
