Hearings in the Supreme Court are now shown live on the Court’s website.

On Tuesday 9 and Wednesday 10 July, the Supreme Court will hear the appeal of The Manchester Ship Canal Company Ltd v Vauxhall Motors Ltd. This appeal will consider whether the court can grant relief from forfeiture in respect of a contractual licence relating to the use of land and, if so, in what circumstances. It will also consider what the nature and extent are of a riparian landowner’s rights to drain his or her land into the water flowing through it. This will be heard in Courtroom 2.

On Thursday 11 July, the Supreme Court will hold a further hearing in the appeal of Miller & Ors v Ministry of Justice. This appeal is considering whether, where a pension is calculable by reference to service, the period of service prior the coming into effect the relevant directive should be taken into account in calculating the amount of pension to be paid. This will be heard in Courtroom 2.
