A Supreme Court news release yesterday reveals that “an ad hoc selection commission has been established under section 27 and schedule 8 of the Constitutional Reform Act 2005 (the Act) to select candidates to be recommended for appointment as Justices of the Supreme Court.”
There will be three vacancies – Lord Dyson’s appointment as Master of the Rolls causing one, and Lords Walker and Hope will retire next March and June respectively. The information pack, setting out the role, the salary, and eligibility and criteria for appointment, is here.
The Guardian is asking “who would you nominate?“, suggesting that Lady Justices Hallett and Black are contenders (so far in the comments section, people have recommended Leveson and Arden LJJ).
The closing date for applications is 5pm on Tuesday 30 Oct 2012.
