On Tuesday 24 March 2015 the Court will hear the appeal of R v Harvey concerning whether VAT, paid or accounted for to HMRC, should be discounted when calculating the benefit figure to be confiscated under the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002. This will be heard in Court 2 from 10.30am.

On Wednesday 25 March it will hand down judgment in the following: Secretary of State for the Home Department v B2 regarding the respondent’s order to deprive the appellant of British Nationality on the grounds that it would be conducive to the public good under the British Nationality Act 1981, s 40(2). The Court must decide whether it would render him stateless within the meaning of s 40(4) of the Act; and S (Children) regarding a full care order made in respect of the respondent’s daughter. The Court must decide whether the approach to ordering costs to be paid by local authorities in care proceedings set out in Re T (Children) [2012] UKSC 36 extends to the costs of appeals from orders made in such proceedings. They will be handed down in Court 1 from 9.45am.

On Wednesday the Court will also hear the appeal of Starbucks (HK) Ltd & Anor v British Sky Broadcasting Group plc & Ors regarding a claim against trade mark infringement and passing off. The Court must decide whether it is sufficient to find an action in passing off that the claimant has international goodwill. It will be heard in Court 2 from 10.30am and will continue on Thursday.

On Thursday 26 March the Court will hand down judgment in R (Evans) v Information Commissioner involving the challenge brought by a Guardian journalist to seek disclosure of written communications between the Prince of Wales and Parliament. It will be handed down in Court 1 from 9.45am.

On Thursday the Court will also hear the appeal of Cameron Mathieson, a deceased child (by his father Craig Mathieson) v Secretary of State for Work and Pensions concerning the suspension of the payment of Disability Living Allowance to the appellant after he had been in hospital for 84 days and whether this breached his rights under the ECHR, arts 8 & 14. It will be heard in Court 1 from 10.30am.

On Monday 23 March 2015 the Privy Council will hand down judgment in Central Bank of Ecuador & Ors v Conticorp SA & Ors. On Tuesday it will hear the appeal of Arcelor Mittal Point Lisas Ltd (formerly Caribbean ISPAT Ltd) v Steel Workers Union of Trinidad and Tobago concerning whether the Industrial Court erred in law or exceeded its jurisdiction by ordering collective agreements – agreed between the appellant company and respondent union in relation to the appellant’s own workforce. It will also hand down judgment in Fazal Ghany v Attorney General & Anor (Trinidad and Tobago); Credit Agricole Corporate and Investment Bank v Papadimitriou (Gibraltar); and Mauri Garments Trading and Marketing Ltd v The Mauritius Commercial Bank Ltd (Mauritius). On Wednesday it will hear the appeal of Peerless Ltd v The Gambling Regulatory Authority & Anor (Mauritius) concerning whether the Supreme Court was right to refuse permission for judicial review. These will be heard in Court 3 at 10.30am on the day of their hearing.
