On Tuesday 3 May 2016 the Supreme Court will hear the appeal of R v Docherty concerning a challenge to the appellant’s sentence of imprisonment for public protection after pleading guilty to wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm contrary to the Offences Against the Person Act 1861, s 18. It will be heard in Court 2 from 10.30am and will continue on Wednesday.
On Thursday 5 May it will hear the appeal of Edwards v Kumarasamy regarding whether a landlord under a short lease of a premises was liable for his tenant’s injuries caused by tripping over an uneven paving stone on the main access pathway, under the extended covenant implied into the tenancy by the Landlord and Tenant Act 1985, s11(1A). This will be heard in Court 2 from 10.30am.
