On Tuesday 17 May 2016 the Supreme Court will hear the appeal of Commissioners for the HMRC v The Investment Trust Companies (in liquidation) & Ors regarding the Investment Trust Companies (ITC) have a direct mistake-based action in unjust enrichment against HMRC on the basis that HMRC was enriched at the ITCs’ expense by the mistaken payment of VAT. This will be heard in Court 2 from 10.30am and will continue on Wednesday from 2pm and on Thursday from 11am.

On Monday 16 May 2016 the Privy Council will hand down judgment in the cases of Shophold (Mauritius) Ltd v The Assessment Review Committee & Anor (Mauritius) and Societe des Chasseurs de L’Ile Maurice & Ors v The State of Mauritius & Anor (Mauritius). On Monday it will also hear the appeal of Pitman v The State (Trinidad and Tobago); Hernandez v The State (Trinidad and Tobago) regarding whether the murder convictions for both of the appellants were unlawful. This will be heard in Court 3 from 10.30am following the judgment hand downs and will continue on Tuesday.
