Lady Hale, the only female English justice of the Supreme Court, has spoken out in favour of greater legal rights for cohabiting couples living inEngland and Wales.
Section 28 of the Family Law (Scotland) Act (the “Act”) allows a former cohabitant who has suffered ‘economic disadvantage in the interests of’ their former cohabitee to make a claim for a sum of money from them. There is no corresponding provision under English law.

I am one half of a cohabiting couple(over 30 years) who are still together, but I am suffering financial disadvantage as a result of his sequestration, yet I am and have been the main financial and practical family contributor now and for some time. As far as I am able to ascertain from various law agencies etc.. Even with this law I HAVE NO RIGHTS, WE ARE NOT A FAMILY AND I AM ABOUT TO BE EVICTED AS A RESULT OF MY PARTNERS BUSINESS MATTERS and there is not a thing I can do about it.
I DO NOT EXIST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yet when it comes to his unemployed status(as a result of his sequestration) surprise surprise I do exist and am required to support him as I am employed!
If one more blog/website/law agency etc.. uses the term fairness one more time I will truly explode.
