Lord Phillips speaks about the need to uphold the rule of law as a weapon in the battle against terrorism.
Speaking at the Qatar Law Forum, a conference whose prestigious guest list included over 500 lawyers, judges and academics from all over the world, Lord Phillips spoke strongly of the need to uphold and protect the rule of law, citing it as a key weapon in the battle against terrorism. He commented that:
"The rule of law is never negotiable…It is not a luxury item that can be put away in the cellar in times of emergency, to be brought out again when things get better."
