On Tuesday 19 March, the Supreme Court will hear the appeal of Navigators Insurance Company Ltd & Ors v Atlasnavios-Navegacao LDA (formerly Bnavios Navegacao LDA). This appeal will consider whether clause 4.1.5 of the standard form Institute War and Strikes Clauses 1/10/83, which excludes losses arising from detainment by reasons of infringement of customs regulations, operates to exclude a claim where the infringement of customs regulations occurred due to an insured peril. This will be heard in Courtroom 2.

On Wednesday 21 March, the Supreme Court will hand down four judgment:

On Thursday 22 March, the Supreme Court will hear the appeal of Belhaj & Anor v Director of Public Prosecutions (expedited). This appeal will consider whether judicial review of a decision by the DPP of a decision not to prosecute an individual constitute ‘proceedings in a criminal cause or matter’ under the Justice and Security Act 2013, ss 6(1) and 6(11). The case will also consider whether there is jurisdiction in such a case to entertain an application for a declaration under s 6 of the 2013 Act that a closed material application may be made to the court. This will be heard in Courtroom 2.

On Thursday 22 March, the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council will hear the appeal of Sagicor Bank Jamaica Ltd v Taylor-Wright (Jamaica). This appeal will consider whether the judge had palpably erred in granting summary judgment to the appellant. This will be heard in Courtroom 3.
