The editors of the UKSC blog would like to wish all of its readers a very happy new year.

The UKSC is currently still in recess, and the new term officially starts this Friday, 11 January 2013.  We will shortly be posting a term preview which gives details of the cases that are to be heard this term – the Justices have a very varied schedule, starting with Schutz (UK) Ltd v Werit (UK) Ltd which deals with the issue of when the replacement of part of a patented product amounts to “making” that product and thereby infringing the rights of the patentee under the Patents Act 1977, s 60(1)(d).

Here’s to an interesting year in the UK Supreme Court!
